How to adjust your Sayl

Sit down and work through the steps in this order. Controls marked If fitted depend on how your chair is configured.

  1. 1

    Seat height

    Lever next to the tilt tension knob, right side of the chair

    To raise the seat, take your weight off the chair and lift the lever. To lower it, lift the lever while seated.

    Your feet should rest flat on the floor.

  2. 2

    Seat depth If fitted

    Lever under the left side of the seat

    To increase the depth, pull the lever out, slide your thighs forward to move the seat, then release the lever. To decrease it, pull the lever out, push the seat back and release the lever.

    Leave about three fingers of space between the back of your knees and the seat edge.

  3. 3

    Tilt tension

    Knob below the right side of the seat

    Turn the knob clockwise to increase the tension, or counterclockwise to decrease it.

    The tension sets how much resistance you feel when you lean back.

  4. 4

    Forward tilt If fitted

    Front horizontal tab on the left side of the seat

    To tilt the seat forward, recline and flip the lever down. To return to level, recline and flip the lever up.

    Forward tilt supports your thighs during focused tasks such as typing.

  5. 5

    Tilt limiter

    Back horizontal tab on the left side of the seat

    To engage, recline and move the tab up to set how far the chair reclines. To release, lean forward and flip the tab fully down.

    Use it when you want to sit upright or only partly reclined.

  6. 6

    Lumbar height If fitted

    Lever or pad behind the Y-Tower (the lever on upholstered backs)

    Move the lever or pad up or down behind the Y-Tower.

    Set it so it comfortably supports the natural curve of your spine.

  7. 7

    Arm height If fitted

    Lever on each arm stem

    Squeeze the lever while pulling the arm up to raise it. To lower it, squeeze the lever while pushing down on the armpad.

    Your arms should rest on the armpads without lifting your shoulders.

  8. 8

    Arm angle and width If fitted

    Each armpad

    For angle, hold the armpad and pivot it in or out. For width, hold the armpad and pull it in or push it out.

    Angle the arms inward when typing and outward when using a mouse. Your elbows should be in line with your shoulders.

  9. 9

    Arm depth If fitted

    Each armpad

    Hold the armpad and slide it forward or back.

    Adjust for comfort and avoid pressure on your wrists and elbows.
