Between two sizes? Size B is designed to cover the overlap, so it is usually the right choice if you fall between A and B or between B and C.

Size ranges are Herman Miller's guidance. Every body is different, so treat them as a starting point.

How to adjust your Aeron

Five minutes of setup makes the biggest difference. Sit down, then work through the steps in this order. Controls marked If fitted depend on the configuration of your chair.

1. 1

   Seat height

   Lever on the right, under the seat (front)

   To raise the seat, stand up slightly so your weight is off the chair and lift the lever. To lower it, stay seated and lift the lever. Set it so your feet rest flat on the floor with your thighs roughly level.

   Tilt tension

   Long knob on the right, under the seat

   Controls how much effort it takes to lean back. While seated, turn it forward for firmer resistance, backward for a lighter recline. You should be able to recline smoothly without being pushed forward.

   Tilt limiter If fitted

   Inner knob on the left, under the seat

   Rotate the knob forward to limit the recline to the position you prefer (upright, mid-recline or full recline). To release it, rotate the knob all the way back.

   Forward tilt If fitted

   Outer knob on the left, under the seat

   Tilts the seat up to 5° forward to support your thighs during focused tasks such as typing. Lean back and rotate the knob forward. To return the seat to level, lean back and rotate it all the way back.

   Lower back support: PostureFit SL If fitted

   Knob on the back of the chair

   Sit with your back in the pocket of the backrest, then turn the knob forward until it comfortably supports the natural alignment of your spine and lower back. Turn it backward to disengage it.

   Lower back support: adjustable lumbar pad If fitted

   Pad on the back of the backrest

   Hold both ends of the pad and slide it up or down (about 11 cm of travel) until it sits in the natural curve of your lower back. Press evenly on both sides so it moves straight.

7. 7

   Arm height If fitted

   Lever at the base of each arm

   Lift the lever, raise or lower the arm (about 17–27 cm above the seat), then lower the lever to lock it. Your arms should rest on the armpads without lifting your shoulders.

8. 8

   Arm depth and angle If fitted

   Front of each armpad (fully adjustable arms)

   Hold the front of the armpad and slide it forward or back. To change the angle, swing it inward for support while typing, or outward while using a mouse.
