Contrattempo, Italian for ‘setback’ or ‘hitch’, was designed by Raul Barbieri and Giorgio Marianelli for Rexite in 1987. A large disc swings back and forth across the face as a pendulum and seems to float in front of the dial, a playful nod to the small mishaps of a working day.
The white version has a red disc; the aluminium-finish version has a black disc. Case and face are made of engineering polymer; the clock measures Ø 45 cm, is 5.5 cm deep and weighs 2.1 kg.
It runs on a quartz movement with an LR6 (AA) 1.5 V alkaline battery, included. It suits offices, break areas, kitchens and homes.
